Kotori Kawashima’s stunning portraits of his young daughter are collected in his book, Mirai Chan.
“From 1964-1967, I successfully impersonated an airline pilot for Pan Am airways, and I flew over two million miles for free. During that time, I was also the chief resident pediatrician at a Georgia hospital and an assistant attorney general for the state of Louisiana. By the time I was caught, I was considered the youngest and most daring con-man in US history. I had cashed almost four million dollars in fraudulent checks in twenty-six foreign countries and all fifty states. And I did it all before my nineteenth birthday. My name is Frank William Abagnale.”
To say that marriage ‘has always been between one man and one woman’ betrays an astonishing ignorance of history – and yes, the Bible. Polygamy has been legally recognized for millennia; for Mormons and Muslims, for example, polygamy is traditional marriage. The Biblical view of marriage is, to put it mildly, not terribly comforting; women were defined as property on a par with donkeys (Exodus 20:17), a woman, (but not a man) could (should!) be executed if not a virgin (Deuteronomy 22:13-21). Virtually all the Biblical patriarchs (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, even Moses, David and Gideon) were polygamists. King Solomon had over 700 ‘legal’ wives. One of the Biblical ‘perks’ of conquest was the ‘ownership’ of any captured ‘virgins’ (Numbers 31:1-18). The Biblical ‘definition’ of marriage was very simple; a man could have as many wives as he could afford.
first time in then Caribbean was wonderful. even more wonderful than that man with his photo bombing bulge.

Tippi Benjamine Okanti Degré, daughter of French wildlife photographers Alain Degré and Sylvie Robert, was born in Namibia. During her childhood she befriended many wild animals, including a 28-year old elephant called Abu and a leopard nicknamed J&B. She was embraced by the Bushmen and the Himba tribespeople of the Kalahari, who taught her how to survive on roots and berries, as well as how to speak their language.
Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has introduced her first piece of legislation. It’s called the Bank on Students Loan Fairness Act, and would reduce the rate students pay on federally-subsidized student loans for one year, from 3.4% to 0.75%.
Without congressional action, on July 1 the rate is set to double from 3.4% to 6.8%.
Warren brings up an interesting point – her bill simply asks students to pay the same rates that big banks pay for borrowing.
She’s literally just asking if college grads can get the same deal as bank CEOs. The exact same interest rate. Not even a bailout or anything fancy (pipe dreams!) - just the same interest rate.
BLESS YOU ELIZABETH WARREN.
YOU GOTTA FIGHT! FOR OUR RIGHT! To pay no interest on our bullshit college loans.
I wish politicians gave as much of a shit about us as Elizabeth Warren does.
